Petrified Woods are numerous and unique. The quality of petrified wood is normally judged by color, rarity and how well it was replaced. Many woods if put side by side it's current cousin would look just like the living tree in it's cells, rings and structure. There are people who specialize in identifying petrified woods by the cell structure in the stone and matching it to living trees to identify the stone.
